IPTV data use depends on bitrate, not the number of channels in a package. Higher resolution and frame rate normally mean more gigabytes per hour.
Convert bitrate into gigabytes
A useful estimate is: gigabytes per hour = megabits per second × 0.45. A steady 5 Mbps stream therefore uses about 2.25 GB per hour. Variable bitrate, buffering overhead and programme changes make real totals different.

Why resolution labels are not enough
Two HD streams can use different bitrates because of the codec, frame rate and provider settings. Sport with fast motion may need more data than a low-motion studio programme at the same resolution. Use the player’s technical information when available.
Capped mobile-data connections
On LTE or 5G, check whether the plan has a fair-use threshold, night allocation or speed reduction after a fixed amount. A connection may remain technically active while becoming too slow for the original stream quality.
Ways to control usage
- Select HD instead of 4K when using capped data.
- Stop playback rather than leaving a channel running in the background.
- Disable automatic playback where the player supports it.
- Use router or device usage reports to measure a normal week.
- Multiply the result by the number of screens that stream independently.
